What are the main components of low-melting yarn? How is it different from traditional yarn?

Low-melting yarn is a special material that is increasingly used in the textile and industrial fields. Compared with traditional yarn, low-melting yarn has unique properties and advantages and is suitable for a variety of specific uses. This article will explore the main components of low-melting yarn and its differences from traditional yarn.

1. Main components of low-melting yarn
Low-melting yarn is mainly made of polymer materials, and common components include:

Polyethylene (PE): Polyethylene is a common low-melting polymer with a melting point usually between 105-130 degrees Celsius. It has excellent flexibility and chemical resistance.

Polypropylene (PP): Polypropylene generally has a melting point of 160-170 degrees Celsius and is suitable for applications that require higher strength and rigidity.

Polyester (PET): Some low-melting polyester materials have a lower melting point and can be used in specific fabrics and industrial applications.

Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE): This type of material combines the properties of rubber and plastic, providing good flexibility and melting point range, suitable for products that require heat sealing.

After special treatment, these materials can produce low-melting yarns with good heat-sealing properties and adaptability.

2. Differences from traditional yarns
There are several main differences between low-melting yarns and traditional yarns (such as cotton, polyester and wool):

Melting point
As the name suggests, low-melting yarns have a significantly lower melting point than traditional yarns. Traditional yarns usually have a higher melting point and are difficult to heat-treat at low temperatures, while low-melting yarns can melt and combine at lower temperatures, making them easier to heat-seal and process.

Heat-sealing performance
Low-melting yarns have excellent heat-sealing properties and can be connected by heating without sewing. This feature makes them widely used in the apparel and packaging industries, especially when seamless designs are required or production time is saved.

Flexibility and processability
Low-melting yarns are generally more flexible and suitable for products that require comfort and fit. Traditional yarns may be limited in flexibility and adaptability and usually require more post-processing.

Environmental protection
Some low-melting-point yarns can be made from renewable resources or environmentally friendly materials, which have better environmental performance. The production process of traditional yarns may have a greater impact on the environment.
